Some of us will start off in life with a deluxe, Will Smith type party bus with all the amenities, fully stocked with food and anything you could possibly want to drink. Others will begin their travels in a bus without water, exhaust problems, no food, and a cabinet with a suspect odor that appears every time you open it. There will be those who can have a good time on whatever bus they are given, while some will never be satisfied. Some will meet the challenges of their bus, while others will be left on the side of the road. Will you join the party or sit at the back of the bus listing everything that did not go as planned.
I had a chance to hang out with my cousin on her birthday. Her mom reserved a bus to take us to some of her favorite Chicago hang outs. The bus was late and not quite as depicted on the company website. For
some, it would have been easy to forget why we were gathered and spend hours sitting with attitude, but then it would not have been much of a celebration. The music played as some lived out their showgirl dreams
while we shared food, drink, and laughter. There was the bridal party photo bombing on the lake front. Yes, some couple will have a random wedding picture with strangers twerking on the bride and groom, damn you
Miley! Then we visited Navy Pier to get some Garrett’s Popcorn, we probably waited in line for 20 minutes, but it is that good. Sometimes, you just have to take one for the team and this popcorn is worth every
minute as we walked back to the bus.
In and out of lanes we went, avoiding Michigan Avenue, before checking into Lawrence’s Fisheries. Don’t judge us, we love to eat! We could have sat and focused our energy on compiling all that was not right with
the bus, but then we would have lost sight of our purpose, which was celebrating a loved one on the day she came to be! Moral of the story, don’t let the cosmetics of life stop your party bus!
